What Is A Paint Correction?

Paint Correction is the removal of swirls and minor scratches from your paint’s surface with a polisher. In certain lights, especially from the sun’s rays, the imperfections are easily seen. Paint Correction helps restore and enhance your vehicle’s glossy shine. This service is completed typically to prep a vehicle for Ceramic Coating. Even the new cars we have done have paint flaws and defects that need fixing!

Here at ZA Autocare, we take more steps for our paint corrections than other detailing businesses. We believe in our lengthy process to ensure we are doing the best we can for our clients. One of our steps includes using a Paint Thickness Gauge. This helps us determine if your paint and clear coat is too worn for us to polish. (mostly needed for older vehicles or repainted cars) We also use a variety of sized polishers ranging from a 6” polisher to a 3” polisher for the trim and smaller exterior areas.

You may be asking yourself how did these swirls and fine scratches come to be on my vehicle? Well here are some reasons why that has happened

  1. Taking your vehicle through an automated carwash! This is the worst thing you can do to your paint. This is because all the built-up debris from other vehicles is embedded into the carwash brushes and giant drying cloths. Carwashes only care about how many customers they can get in a day. Here at ZA Autocare, we care about quality not quantity!

  2. Improper washing techniques! From not properly rinsing your wash mitts using the two-bucket method. You have to make sure you keep your washing mitts clean after each panel, so you're not just rubbing the dirt back into the paint.

  3. Not fully cleaning your vehicle and trying to dry it. This will cause grime to be built up in the towel and when you go to wipe again, the dirt will be worked into the surface of the paint and cause the imperfections in the paint!

  4. Using something other than a microfiber towel, and also not properly taking the correct steps to clean the microfibers through the washer machine. Some businesses use dirty microfiber towels that most likely have contaminants still on them!

At ZA Autocare we have specific processes for cleanliness and quality inspection for the vehicles we service!
